Fall Festivities

Halloween is always a dilemma for me. It is not an event I like for my family to celebrate. Hard to avoid it in our society so our way of 'staying in the community' is to do a little fun dress up, carve up a pumpkin or two or four! and stay in the cul de sac. 650 pieces of candy later! yes - we ran out in 2 hours and yes we only give out one piece per person - the event is finished in our home but still going strong in the 'hood. The giant pumpkin farmer parks his trailer of HUGE pumpkins right in front of our home each year and everyone this side of anywhere comes and takes a picture. It is quite a site to behold. Here are a few pics for you...(just a mom note....this is the first year my oldest was not at home on this evening. He is with friends watching movies. So different not having him here...)

a little carving...

eewww....

this is the third outfit of the evening...don't ask!

see the sky...no that is not a painting...it is what the sky truly looked like.

Surprise Unveiled

Ok....before you totally assume this ultrasound is mine.....let me explain. IT ISN'T!! Fun to think about, though (trust me...I desired more than the four the Lord gave me). This amazing picture is of my great nephew or niece - only the Lord knows at this point. Proud parents are my niece and her husband. Proud grandparents are my sister and brother-in-law. We have one beautiful and engaging great-niece and now God has granted another 'cousin' into the family. Lord willing the littlest Hansen will make its appearance in the month of May. A word of warning to all air traffic controllers, pilots, airline employees....clear the way when delivery signs are approaching - my sister will be clearing a path for North Carolina!!!

A quote for you to ponder today.....

"when good people slumber in a time of danger, and are not awakened by the light of the word, and the discoveries it gives them, let them expect to be smitten on the side by some sharp affliction; better be raised up so than left asleep." matthew henry

A latte if in the comments field you can tell me which part of scripture this is referencing!!!

In The Fog...

My girls, who were snug in their beds, informed me that it was too foggy to go to school today! I think not being able to see across the street qualifies as a reason to stay home, keep on the pj's, warm up some apple cider, wrap up in a quilt and take the day off.....oh, sorry....i just escaped to my happy spot for a moment. reality is the school bus will be here in 9 minutes and i have a job to arrive at....a slow day will have to wait.
